Wire brush and paint, what more do you need to know?

If you want to repair them, that is a different situation.
Other wise, clean off the old finish and repaint - you may need a steady hand !

I have successfully araldited a plate which was cracked in two back together, though only to use as a pattern for producing a replica.

On the other hand I have a plate (off one of my vehicles) which someone has welded back together. It is a mess, and not suitable for anything at all; its only use is to confirm the build date.

As well as the wire brush you may need a small screwdriver or similar for getting into the tricky corners.

You don't need a particularly steady hand either, as the lettering is raised so quite easy to pick out in a different colour.
