Thanks for the link for this tour Neil, seems a lot of steam mileage for 60 quid! I think I will be booking the whole trip from Lancaster.

Sounds like a decent trip, perhaps with hindsight what it should have been in the first place, except perhaps with Ian's locos the Lancaster start and finish would have not have been so convienent. Only question after getting back to Victoria how do you then go back to Preston and Lancaster without a lot of messing about, unless diesel hauled with the steam on the back??

If its doing two circuits a stop at Sowerby Bridge or Hebden Bridge would be nice! Will be looking at riding this one too.

    Regards,

    John.

The way the times are set out is a bit confusing but yes it looks as if it does a second run round, but then from Blackburn heads directly back to Preston, so for £60 some mileage with a double helping of most of the interesting bits. But being RTC we will have to wait until a bit nearer before making a final decision on the feasability...

I've just worked out the total mileage of the tour which is 241 miles. So passengers would be getting just over 4 miles for £1.

It could be a case of diesel replacing steam on its arrival in Manchester after first run round the Cotton Mill circuit? Doesnt say anything about a second circuit behind steam or the route taken. Might be worth a call to RYTC to clarify the situation before booking.
    regards,
    John

Yes from lancaster, good news that. spitfire still refers to 'the witch way' as 'our cotton mill excursion' on their page, confusing.
