Same weekend as Doncaster show, shame would like to have gone to this.

Nice to see industrials being hired in.

Hope it is a success and more can be hired.

Tempting, very tempting. Can I put in a request for the Andrew Barclay to get some solo runs please? :)

It also clashes with the KWVR gala, but it looks a good do. May and Linda are very nicely presented locos and it will be good to see May in action and doing more than it would do at Bury. I'd say an inspirational choice of visiting locos.

Tempting indeed, might have to make an appearence. Hopefully there'll be quite a few more solo runs to make the locos work harder than pointless double headers that slightly marred last years gala IMO....it'd give the smaller locos a chance to enter second valve anyway which is definately a personal 'make or break' factor for attendance.

    To anybody in the know.

Are any of the visiting locos working on weekends before or after the event? If so when and which ones?

Still good stuff. Will try to make the trip over the A66 if all is well - need to come and see 1439 in its new home at last! Haven't been to Preston since those initial open days in January 2001...

Living round the corner I may have to pop down and have a ride. Any news on the Furness Trusts proposed workshop?

Planning permission for the building extention is due to be applied for this week. The new extension will include space for the Furness Railway Trust stock, & will also give more undercover space for Ribble Steam Railway & Ribble Rail stock.
The funding for this extension is being provided by FRT & RSR.

Excellent. Actually met Derek from FRT at ELR on Saturday who told me pretty much the same, but good to hear of some progress.

Prob pop down for an hour or two, depending what shift I'm on. Fancy a ride behind May if posibble. :)

You could combine this with the Keighley and Worth Valley gala (which is usually brilliant) the same weekend; train from Preston to Colne, then bus to Skipton and train to Keighley. The Embsay and Bolton Abbey line may be running as well - make it a proper Northern weekend!

    I'm coming up from Cornwall.

I'd thought of that, but I don't think the rest of the family would be too pleased if I vanished all weekend! Shame though, a ride behind 90733 would be good!

Bring the family with you! Keighley and Worth Valley gala is really good.
