I went along to Finsbury Park on Saturday for day one of RM60, an event held to mark the 60th anniversary since the appearance of the first Routemaster bus.
There were plenty of different varieties on display including some that had been converted by their current owners to serve another purpose.
Follow the link to see the various buses on display.

I think the sound of an AEC RM on tickover, gear engaged, runs a very close second to a Deltic on both engines, uphill, with 8/10 on.:)

I went up to London last Saturday to see, photograph and ride on the Routemasters on route 9 before they stop running. Unfortunately, however, there was a demonstration in London which meant that many bus routes were cut short, diverted or cancelled altogether. Route 9 came into the latter category so I was denied the opportunity of a lst ride on a Routemaster on that route. The route 15 was also affected, but some buses were running as far as Aldwych instead of Trafalgar Square, so at least I got a ride to Tower Hill from Aldwych on a Routemaster. The driver told me that they should be safe until December next year, with the possibility of an extension beyond that.
