I also visited Midsommer Norton and Wallingford which were closed. As it was 2pm on an august Sunday, and there was nothing at all going on, I got the impression the C and W Railway is rather defunct. :-(

Looking at their leaflet, it seems that the C & W only operate on occasional days. Have to say that the leaflet is not very clear on this, though. It also says its a draft.

Well you certainly put some miles on the old girl! Nice to see a Devon Transit still going strong

    Their website seems quite specific.

specific if you have an internet connection (not fitted in a 1987 camper van ) but for there not even to be volunteers there on an August Sunday afternoon looks ominous to me

1700 miles to be nearly exact....great to see you recognise it as a Devon (Dawn)... not many left I'd say.

Large chunks of which seem not to have been updated in a while.

I always felt it a pity that the GWS didn't use the line to let some of their stock stretch its legs.

I did....1700 miles and 24 railways I make it. ...and the verdict of my favourite? Well in reverse order as traditional.....third place Quainton (for the sheer amount of rolling stock under cover and properly displayed) Second Place Swanage ( for the scenery and especially viewing facilities such as the Loco Shed one) and top of the pile without a doubt (because I stayed much longer than I anticipated and loved it ) The Mid Hants. Having said that all were commendable and thoroughly enjoyable.....

(bottom of the Pops? well I never thought I'd say this......Didcot.....I think they are losing their way....more and more BR liveries all the time and a lot less progress on some progress than I thought would be the case since my last visit about 2 years ago, although seeing 1015 out in the sun* was a huge bonus *read=torrential rain.
