Yes I am an active volunteer
I was looking at a website which had photographs of the installation of a hydraulic lift bridge to replace a permanent deck over the Rochdale Canal, to allow boats to pass along a newly renovated section.
This bridge lifts by means of 4 hydraulic rams & is ideal in situations where there is a lack of space to build a conventional bridge.
I know of a railway situation where a bridge of this type would solve a major problem & to which the only other solution would be a road closure & long diversion.
Does anybody know a ball-park figure as to what one of these bridges might cost ?

    Bob.
