It must be quite a strain on their resources with the loco and greater part of the support crew being based so far away. Some loco owners and support crew don't realise how easy they have it.

Unless I've missed it, there doesn't seem to be a thread for this. I notice today's (first of the season) run seems to have disappeared near Virginia Water, according to RTT. Any news from anyone on its fate?

According to a post on twitter they are being held at a red signal at Virginia Water. The person has asked SD what the problem is but has not had a reply yet.

Edit: some of the other services starting from Waterloo are being cancelled when reaching Virginia Water. RTT cancellation reason is coming up as "due to problems with the train crew".

No - that's a freight. In any case the steam train should have a diesel on the back.

I had assumed freight at first sight but there are no freights booked and RTT doesn't show train 698Q.

Indeed, but I wondered if the diesel had failed, causing the whole thing to sit down. Unfortunate that it's one stop before the water stop.

Just received news that the train has terminated at Virginia Water and the diesel will go back to Clapham Junction to drop the passengers off before heading to Southall

Thanks. There's also bad disruption in the Redhill area owing to two separate incidents, so not a good evening.
