    Durham Locomotive Preservation group in conjunction with Rail Restorations North East are holding a public open day., 9th October 2010. There will be the opportunity to see the restoration progress of the groups steam locomotive RSH No77 'Norwood'. The last working steam locomotive in the North East outside of preservation.

    The new G5 project boiler will be on display and Dr Mike Wood will be giving an update on progress.

    There will be the opportunity to see other restoration projects, model railways, displays from other preservation societies including The Wensleydale Railway, Stainmore Railway, NELPG, friends of the National Railway Museum (Shildon) and trade stalls. There will be a vintage fire engine on display and refreshments. Entry is free though donations towards Norwood's restoration would be welcomed. Open 10am-4pm.
