For anyone thinking of Oxenholme I believe there’s a speed restriction through the station for 5043 . Information from another source so don’t shoot the messenger.

Oxenholme 30mph, Penrith 20mph. Both in the down direction.

Don't you just love our UK gauging system that now has a default setting of "If any standard passenger coach or container wagon fits then that's good enough".

Going to Gloucester Yard for servicing I see. Possibly due to the fact that there is no access to Worcester Yard from platform 2, so to get there there would be some shunting moves and a reversal through platform 1. When Saphos came to Worcester the other week they didn't use the yard either, they shunted the train to the long sidings at the back of the station.

44871 going well by Langham Jnc Oakham this morning on the Gloucester run .I heard it coming several minuets before it appeared. Perfect ,safety valves just sizzling ,smoke just visible , no steam blows (leaks )Excellent condition ,full marks for the loco' owners, crews etc. Diesel on the back quiet.

Lots of shovage Leicester- Nuneaton and up the bank to Arley Tunnel. From nearly 30 down at Leicester I almost missed it on the bank, running 3 early.

I think the Humberstone Road stop was dropped and water taken at Leicester station . Result was 25 min early arrival into Leicester and on time departure

Here are some of my snaps from this morning, compressed so they hopefully don't clog up the forum, taken just outside Ely. 44871 was making a lovely noise as it accelerated the train away from the pathing stop at Ely West Jn with the diesel doing nothing.

Does anyone know where 44871 is heading when she comes off the train at Leicester tonight? Just wondered if it might be going up to London on the MML perchance, especially as it reverses at Wigston so will be facing south.

Ah. Had the grandkids round. Whilst they debated whether or not to join me to see the big chuffer engine I missed the change from 20 down to on time

A bit of a disappointing day with the promised sunshine not really appearing. Locations are - 1. between March and Whittlesey at Turves backlit by the milky sun, the signalbox is Three Horse Shoes. 2. passing the site of the junction where the M&GN joined the Midland line at Saxby. 3. approaching Hinckley at Elmsthorpe, no clag because the diesel was doing all the work. It's easy to criticise but we don't know the water situation, they had to water in the platform at Leicester rather than Humberstone Road that may have caused a problem.

It actually had its water stop in humberstone Road for some reason RTT had it showing it in the platform. It came in 10:17 I think and departed at 10:30
