Small problem at Victoria this morning...
The clock is correct...not sure about anything else..
Ah - Southern Africa Railways running late maybe? Nothing new there then. Did you mean Victoria UK?
Very nice climb of the hills of Streatham and Selhurst, lost its grip a couple of times but kept pretty good speed considering it's all on single yellows and reds.
Apart from departing Victoria (SA) and Clapham, the bear on our back has been sleeping.
Passing south croydon..1128
A few minutes late through Horley
So, it was via platform 15 at Clapham Junction after all! Caught a few out I noticed, who expected it through the fast line as in previous years.
My dad was filming and talking pictures at willingdon crossing - will post them up as soon as he sends - tangy running well with lots of black smoke apparently...
Currently held outside Eastbourne, no available platforms, line side fatality being reported at Cooden Beach.
No trains towards Hastings until at least 2.30 being reported here... Cuts it a bit fine for our return...
1427, departure time...
Here's the view from plat 1...
(I think we're going to be a good while yet)
Grateful for any updates I am at Bopeep Junction and RTT is currently having a dumb spell
1459 off Eastbourne, 32 late.
37686 up front, beats a 47 any day.
Father Christmas is coming through the train... Speaks with an east London accent and it's not Les.
Short trundle to Willingdon jn ( apparently it still wasn't confirmed which way were going until the jn), but we are now heading to Hastings.
1509 @ Pevensey, there's 1 svce train ahead of us.
Ta Got it on RTT now will get in and out of Bopeep tunnel
Cooden beach 1521, 37 late. Held at Normans Beach.
Filmed at Copyhold Junction:
a) The unit,
b) The shadows,
c) The noisy van!
here's tangmere through earlswood, was the deltic on the back the one used for the horsham-ely
Definitely a bit of a box clever run back, indeed I think most if it was, despite very good running we still seem to be losing time.
The "Deltic" was in fact a Class 37.
Be careful about having knowledge of different types of diesel loco. You'll be run out of town by the 'box police'!
I wish it was a Deltic, could have been worse, like a 67.
Well stonking run back into the capital from Tonbridge onwards green all the way in..no messing (& no shoving)
I think tangmere put on a good show today (I've more wheel slip recordings than I've had before ).
Very good day out, went to Eastbourne for chips and fish by steam.
