Probably so, as a Member and poster on NP he has seen the volume of animosity over the way the S&D Trust has been treated.

The question would be if the SDRT would be willing to agree to another loan, having been evicted from that very railway?

I can't think what assurances could possibly satisfy me, if I were a trustee of the SDRT. If you can't rely on a contract or a lease, what can you rely on?

If the trust has been evicted by then, No Chance, but if, lets say, there was a change of chairman, and some PLC directors, between now the trust leaving , then anything is possible.

The WSR PLC is acting like someone who kicks you out of the house but still expects conjugal rights.

They promise much but deliver little. Forever bragging about their length but going no where.

I'll pass on offer. I'm washing my hair.

If it was my engine it would only reluctantly be on a cost per mile basis.

New press release from the SDRT ([just] arrived in my email):

"Joint Statement from the Mid-Hants Railway Limited, Mid-Hants Railway Preservation Society Limited and the Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust Limited

The Mid-Hants Railway has offered to help house a part of the collection of vehicles and artefacts belonging to the Somerset and Dorset Railway Trust, which has been asked to leave the current site at Washford in Somerset, while a permanent location for its collection is sought.

    Additional information from the S&DRT

With the required movement of all items belonging to the S&DRT at Washford, we appeal to people from the wider heritage railway movement for donations to accomplish this move. Although the Trust has some funds to begin the huge task of transporting some stock, it will be a very costly exercise to complete the whole operation within the next few months. The Trust has the largest collection of artefacts from the Somerset & Dorset Railway and this will have to be carefully removed and possibly stored for the immediate future.

Our membership has been extremely generous so far with over GBP15,000 raised through our 'Safeguarding Our Future' Appeal of earlier this year. We have now launched an extension to that appeal under the banner 'Progressing Our Future' to enable our site at Washford, home of the Trust for over 40 years, to be removed and located elsewhere.

Our membership has increased substantially over the past year and we send out a warm welcome to anyone wishing to join us in an exciting future for the Trust which will develop the story of, and memories of, the S&D.

Order membership and make donations via our web site www.sdrt.org.

Well, I guess that's final, then. Frankly, I have come to believe that the SDRT is probably better off, in the long run, out of the toxic waste dump that the WSR has very sadly become. Oh well, time to wander over and make another donation: I do hope many (most?) readers will follow suit.

    Noel

    PS:
Oooh, good thought; I hadn't thought of that, but let me echo the sentiment, and apologies to the SDRT if my post caused any issues.

I think that considering the shitshow that the WSR is, they are better off out of it. The MHR will hopefully provide a welcome and stable temporary home before a move to a permanent location.

I have made a post on the WSR in reply to that made by Andy Norman which mentioned the latest events for the S&D R Trust.
Hopefully, with the warm welcome form the Mid Hants, they will move on to a far happier situation. Without doubt many will rise to the occasion, as they say, donating and some more joining the Trust. Given the support so far and a large Membership increase must have been a great encouragement for their Trustees and Membership.

At least the MHR isn't teetering on the edge of going under, as the WSR must be, with no income, and bills due, and should be able to provide a home for a while, its a pity the MHR hasn't got any spare room to allow the trust a permanent home, but who knows, i'm now expecting that the agreement to return 53808 to WSR was not worth the paper it was printed on, and she won't be returning for overhaul, unless there is drastic change at Minehead.
