I'm refering to the regular RTC trips using the "Crewe Pool" locos, out via Shap and back via Ais Gill. Any reports on how these trains have been running this season? Are they leaving Appleby as early as normal and do they wait the full hour or more at Blackburn in the evening?

As previously reported but lost in the recent crash, 6201 and 6233 have swapped duties this coming weekend, with 6233 working Friday's Scarborough Flyer and 6201 on Saturday's CME.

I believe that the Appleby stop is for only as long as it takes to top up so has in the past caught people out who try to get ahead.
Not to sure about the Blackburn stop, but as the water is usually taken in the siding from a hydrant a long weay up the road, I would guess it needs the hour. I certainly have not heard of any early running from there onwards. There is an 18.35 stopper to Bamber Bridge and then the 19.03 Bolton train so it might leave between these but I doubt it.

I chased the Saturday train a few weeks back and made it from Armathwaite to Birkett Common with time to spare. Can't comment on the Blackburn stop though, I didn't go that far.
