There were hopes that Scruton station refurbishment would be done this spring. Will passenger trains be returning to Scruton this year?

Direct Works Team (updated July 2012) ...
Scruton Station. This is a Wensleydale Railway Trust (WRT) led restoration in partnership with Scruton Parish Council and Darlington College. The work is being funded by the WRT and the Railway Heritage Trust to a total value of £180,000.

We have been working here since autumn 2010 and now have the roof replaced, the floor about to be replaced, the ceilings and walls lime rendered, a new toilet extension has been built, waiting rooms decorated, internal partitions built and the signal box restored. The colour scheme is that of the LNER post-1938 as at closure in 1954.

Work continues on site with plans to construct a platform in readiness for the re-opening of the station in April 2013. It will then have been 59 years since the last passenger train stopped at Scruton.
