The chance to see not one, but two, L&B engines (LYD and LYN) on their home line hauling appropriate L&B carriages side by side for the first time in 93 years! So not something you will see every day. Plus ISAAC and AXE in steam, 7 1/4" miniature steam, marquee attractions, Real Ale bar, and much more.

For details of this and other L&B events, see http://www.lynton-rail.co.uk/page/special-events

Thanks for posting, especially as it doesn’t seem to get a mention on their website? It’s going to be quite a day...

Last time I visited Woody Bay was around 15 years ago on a family holiday, I think it was before they had started running trains yet. Visiting yesterday it was incredible to see the progress, and even more incredible to see Lyn and Lyd running together there. Was well worth the long journey down from the Midlands, and the event was very well attended. Perfect weather too so was able to get some good photos. I wish the railway and its supporters all success in the future extension plans. Also would like to say the situation with the A39 closure at Blackmoor Gate was handled well, I didn't have to wait too long to get back to my car at the park and ride.

Whilst large locomotives charm many the British branch line looks and, without doubt, seems at its best when smaller (more appropriate?) locomotives are working in a manner similar to how they did in pre preservation days .

Beautiful photos David - testament to the hard work put in by the railway into recreating the original L&B atmosphere.

    Regards,

    Dan

Only my second time on the L&B on Saturday- what a lovely line! It has come a long way since my last visit and it was great to see Lyd and Lyn together.
A great event and well thought out with the park and ride (which worked very well) and plenty of photo opportunities. A highlight for me was 'Axe' and 'Faith' slipping on the point work and needing some hand sanding to get them out of trouble! (see video). Photos to follow.

Thanks to all involved for putting on such a great event!

    Here's my video:

    Enjoy :)
