Looking at the timetable its clear that one of the Kidderminster starting sets does one round trip and the other two, one starting at Kidderminster and the other Bridgnorth, do two round trips. However does anybody know which engine then works the 1555 exKR, is it the engine from the 1025 or 1140?

I can see from the SVR online forum that the stock used for the 1555 is from the 1025 but it doesn't say which engine, as there is a 2.5hr gap between this rake arriving and then leaving again, and in the mean time the engine off the ex1140 arrives back and then there's a 42min gap.

I guess on days when the dining set is out an extra engine is used just for that?

According to the SVR website the planned Santa Specials for 24 December have been reduced - it looks like by around half. Details are on:

The 1555 is formed by the 1025 (referred to as S1) , both stock and engine. Due to Operational problems, platform 2 at Kidderminster is out of action so lots of shunting is require to ensure S1 is out of the way for S2 to arrive and then S1 is back to position to carry on.

Services continue on the Severn Valley until 3rd January, a last chance to travel the full line until March due to engineering work.

Sadly 43106 failed in traffic yesterday with what is reported as "cylinder damage". Fingers crossed this is not too serious.

43106 failed with cylinder damage halfway up Eardington bank, its left-hand cylinder cover is broken and left hand piston needs replacing (with any luck that's all that will need doing).
