Yeah but he is also fine to post it on here!!! It's always interesting to hear some of the history of the early days and what those people are upto now. The railway has reached a milestone! Although too young to be a pioneer I will be there that weekend and look forward to meeting some of you guys!

I think the left-hand one is Bob the Jock and the centre one a very young Andy Williams, but the one on the right I don't recognise. Mind you, I'm only a newcomer, I didn't start until 1971.

    Regards,

    jtx

On looking again, is that a really young Knacker Carr?

Gents, the third guy in the photo is Don Pickford. I'll be down on the Saturday and look forward to a pint or two( some mistake surely!) Cheers , Dave Holroyde

Looking to the next 40 years of the SVR, if you do pay a visit over the "anniversary" weekend, dont forget to pop up to the North end at Bridgnorth and see part of the future for the SVR, namely the rapidly advancing frames of 82045. Sales and information stand in attendance.

Hopefully if the state of work allows, the new Bridgnorth wheeldrop should be viewable as well, again part of the "future" for the SVR.

To be followed by a few rousing choruses of "A Black Five For Me," and sundry other, less polite ditties.

It would be nice if Didcot could lend the GWR railcar, which sometimes did the honours in those early days. I also remember the 'Flying Pig' 43106, which is still there. Used to try to pop in on my way from Plymouth to and from Leeds University in those days.
