Shortlist drawn up for Lima Metro Line 2 contract

The agency which coordinates private investment into Peru, Proinversion, has shortlisted three consortia for a contract to construct Line 2 of the Lima Metro.

The 27-kilometre line will connect the districts of Callao and Ate, with an 8-kilometre branch line from Oscar Benavides to Néstor Gambetta Avenue. Line 2 will cut travel times between Callao and Ate from two hours to just 45 minutes.

The shortlist includes:

• • New Lima Metro Consortium – Cosapi, Impregilo, Iridium Infrastructure Concessions, Vialia, Ansaldo Breda and Ansaldo STS;
  • Lima Metro Underground Consortium – Astaldi and Controladora de Operaciones de Infraestructura;
  • Consortium of Lima Metro Line 2 – Odebrecht Latinvest Peru, Graña y Montero, Construtora Andrade Gutierrez and Queiroz Galvão.

Proinversion said that bids will be submitted by February 21 and the contract will be awarded on February 28.

Christy Garcia-Goths, head of railway projects at Proinversion, said the project would “invigorate” public transport in the city.
