    That of course is the section of line where the Dampf trifft Kies Plandampfs took place over the past few years but sadly not this year. Nice too see the 41 getting an outing on a real train after all.

    Ah - come on! Have you not seen any of the videos of 6201 performing today? We have absolutely nothing to complain about in terms of main line steam in this country, although you would not beleive it to read some comments on here.

    That is not to say that the sight of 41.1144 is not magnificant too.

    I quite enjoyed this revenue earning double headed freight! For those that aren't aware, the Strasburg Railroad is one of the premier tourist operations in the US, but also have some freight traffic.

    Ah, you misunderstand: my interest was always for freight working! I fully appreciate the efforts of current main-line steam - in the late 1990s we were involved in it - but there's nothing like the sight of a heavy loco getting to grips with a heavy train. The sound of the couplings picking up as each wagon was got on the move, or the clash of buffers as the engine brakes began to take effect: sounds never to be forgotten.

    Of course, you really need loose-coupled, unfitted wagons for the full effect, and that is just never going to happen. I can still wish, though!
