"Somerset Coast Express" Sat. 11th.July 2009.

Hello All,

I have heard of the planned "Somerset Coast Express", being hauled by Class 52 D1015 Western Champion, from London, I presume Paddington Station, to Minehead on the West Somerset Railway, this Saturday 11th.July 2009.
Please has anyone any more details of this tour, for example; operator, times, details of return trip times, locomotives involved if Western Champion not doing full trip, etc? Thanks in advance.

There will be *limited* accomodation available for WSR passengers to travel on this train behind D1015 between Bishops Lydead and stations to Minehead on the down working only. The up train doesn't stop (for passengers) between Minehead and Taunton. Hymek D7017 will be coveing the regular WSR diesel service on Saturday.

Caught D1015 at Beech Grove Lock on Saturday - persistent drizzle and a day that sucked the colour out of everything so I used B&W

Perfect timing with the shutter Steve! 1/1000th of a second later and it would have been disaster! Well done. I was on the train and a few photos have been added to my fotopic site. But like you say Steve, the weather was crap.

I should say, yes it was very difficult to time the shutter release, but I'll come clean - I had the camera in high speed motor mode and took 3 or 4 shots. This one didn't have that tree in the background above the leading edge of the cab roof.
