Vossloh has signed a contract to supply 70 locomotives to the South African company Swifambo Rail Leasing (Swifambo).

The EURODual locomotives will be used by the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) to operate passenger services around the country.

As electro-diesel locomotives, the new vehicles will run on both electrified and non-electrified routes.

The order has been valued at €250 million and includes an option for additional locomotives.

The first of the new vehicles will arrive in the second quarter of 2014, with the final locomotives to be delivered by the end of 2016.
