The railway was featured in River Walks on BBC where they took the train rather than walking the full Dart. Still on iplayer.
Don't think it was an auto train used?.

The distance from Buckfastleigh to Totnes is only about eight miles; the Dart from its headwaters, east and west, on Dartmoor to the sea is over forty six miles.

The SDR Auto trains running every day until Sunday consist of a three auto cars with locomotive 6412. Quite a rare consist.
Dry weather as well here in Devon.
Also on Saturday & Sunday there will be 5786 (L92) with a three coach chocolate and cream set.

What special provisions are there in the operating rule book to facilitate this push pull running?

Driver and Firemen on the footplare and Driver in the driving trailer? After the fiasco on the Dean Forest railway when a level crossing gate was demolished I can’t imagine any preserved railway woould want to run as they did in years gone by on the Big Railway.

I suppose that is the difference. And the fact that the regulator was controlled from the footplate on the Dean Forest.
