Just a reminder that this coming weekend sees the SDR's annual Military Weekend. In addition to the large display of military vehicles at Buckfastleigh there will be plenty of other entertainment and a special timetable. Services will be operated using 3205, L92 and 5542 along with visiting USA tank No.65 which is making a short visit from its home on the KESR.

The USA tank will be a new type to appear on the line and in addition to hauling passenger services, will also appear on a ballast train - in times pasty there was a member of the class based at Meldon Quarry for shunting ballast.

The event will also see an all GWR rake in use. Formed of three coaches on a couple of runs a Fruit D van will be attached to the front of the consist. This will look particularly pleasing with 5542 at the head of the train. On other services special saloon 9004 will be added to provide a cream tea service.

Trains operate from 10.00 onwards - see the normal SDR websites for more details.
