After a years slog replacing all its rotton woodwork, I'm ready to give my 25t Pill Box Brake Van (55170) a lick of paint.
I'd like to put it into original SR colours. The Body in SR freight brown - no problem there, but the cabin ends and veranda ends were painted in 'red'.

My question is, what is the correct shade?
I've spoke to a paint company, who are adamant that the shade is Venetian Red. I've painted up a model of this for a test, and to be honest, it looks just like Bauxite Brown.
The painting instructions with the model say the cabin ends should be Vermillion, with the buffer casings Venetian Red!
Having looked at a few preserved examples on the web, the red looks quite a bright red, and nothing like Venetian Red ](*,)

If anyone can give me a definitive answer on this, then I will be most gratefull!

    Thanks for any help,

    Cheers,

    Andy.
