Pilot uninjured and on the surface the plane does not look badly damaged.

Can't see which plane on my phone but looks like a two-seater version.

It's a two seat Mk.IX registration D-FMKN and was en route from Germany to Biggin Hill and then Goodwood. Not really a crash as it looks like a text book "wheels up" landing.

Hmmm, doesn't look quite so healthy from that side! The initial report did mention a large spill of fuel, which suggested some more major damage than was maybe initially apparent. Very lucky in the circumstances that there was no fire.

Given the recent unfortunate sad incidents I can't believe it has happened again, albeit luckily this time without the tragic results.
One wonders whether it's safe for such aircraft to be flying?

Is it safe to be running 90 year old locos on the national network, is it right that this weekend I should be taking a 123 year old traction engine on the road?
Is it safe to leave the house in the morning? Accidents do happen and in the age of the internet we hear about more of them.
Aviation inspections are incredibly stringent. I saw a Meteor crash at Coventry in 1988, will never forget it, but I am glad that vintage stuff is still flown.

Indeed it doesn't. Pilot still did a good job getting it down virtually in one piece and as they say, any landing you can walk away from is a good one.

Much more modern aircraft crash and sadly more frequently. Engine failure can happen to aircraft of any vintage. The circumstances of this and the Shoreham incident are almost certainly completely different.

Depending on the damage there’s no reason why that spit should not fly again, most parts are now available to rebuild an aircraft and an mk 9 is one of the most commonest marks so no shortage of firms who have the experience rebuilding this mark of Aircraft, the important thing is no one got hurt, and no fire, so the pilot lives to fly again, and the aircraft will i'm sure be repaired one thing, whilst these airframes may date from 1944, very very few have not been rebuilt and are in effect zero hour airframes such is the amount of new material that is used .

It's already crashed a couple of times, most recently 3 years ago.
