On BH on radio 4 this morning they had an article on the return of the SS Great Britain to Bristol, 40 years ago this month.

I was there to see it and then visited it tied up at Canons Marsh before it transferred to the dry dock.

Were any other members there to see it that day?

Oh yes!! What a sight, very powerful feelings.
Up on the Clifton Suspension Bridge!!! My father was at the side of the dock when she finally got back into her birthplace (talk about a tight fit!) a little while later.

I've followed her progress over the years, and made several pilgrimages to visit, the most recent only last year.
Being there, and remembering what came back from the Falklands still brought a lump to my throat!

I was with some close friends on one visit, I think they feel as I do about her!
