Just to say that they are main line running again, using their pacific 01.1075 and a mix of German Bm and Belgian K1A (1st class) carriages:

This excursion, on Saturday 7th May, is from Rotterdam to the Open Air (transport) Museum in Arnhem.

The SSN has always had a coal problem - there is no coal in Holland, not since the 1950s... so they are buying abroad, as we are now.
They have started the rebuild of their class 41 (41 105) which was an oil burner, and I think will stay that way. Could be interesting.

The SSN is still going strong, and just completed an international run from Rotterdam, their home town, to Essen in Germany for the Christmas market.

A visit to the VSM line in Beekbergen was also organised, with a night photo-shoot:

What a tremendous picture of 01 1075! (Copyright SSN)

Back in the shed at Rotterdam they have started the overhaul of 41 105, the overhaul for the first time ever of '08 type' shunter 658 is almost complete, while an exciting restoration when completed will be of newly acquired DB restaurant car of the ARmh 217 Halbspeisewagen 'Kakadu' type, so named because of its blue and red colour scheme. Not many of those about, it was quite a coup for the SSN to get one. 25 of them were built by the DB in 1966. They have a separate first class comparment, which can also be used as part of the restaurant, giving 48 dining places in total.

Love the water column in the picture. It's articulated, so adapts better to those long pacific hauled expresses that couldn't stop at exactly the right spot.
