The new St Pancras International train station has opened its doors to the public for the first time.

The first Eurostar service to Paris from the £800m station left on Wednesday at 1101GMT. A special carbon-neutral train will carry the new route's very first passengers during its two hour and 15 minute journey.

The first commercial passenger train for Brussels departed at 1104GMT, with the first arrival from the same city pulling into St Pancras at 1109 GMT. The first arrival from Paris drew in at 1113 GMT.

Eurostar arrives in Paris on time

The first Eurostar service to leave St Pancras international station in London has arrived in Paris on time.

The high-speed train left the restored £800m station as scheduled at 1103 GMT on Wednesday. It arrived in Paris just over two hours later at 1317 GMT via the newly completed £5.8bn Channel Tunnel rail link, now known as High Speed 1.
