Very interesting Alan, I used to work at the Glaxo in Barnard Castle so remember the remains of that station and viaduct.

Looks a very interesting event - I can't wait to be there!
Well done on all the progress to date. The last time I was on site (Model Rail Show '10,) I was amazed with all the new work on the site. Well done!

Excellent news is that the Stainmore railway company at KSE have been awarded a grant of £33,400 by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) towards the planned 'Stainmore 150' celebrations this summer - we are hugely grateful to the HLF for their support.
27th- 29th August 2011 will see the return of passenger trains to KSE, the trains operating over this event will be hauled by Ex BR standard 2-6-0 2MT 78019 and our own Peckett "Fred".
Lots of other things will be going on, for more up to date info please visit http://www.stainmore150.co.uk/ or http://www.kirkbystepheneast.co.uk/index.html .
Also we now have a very interesting blog page http://stainmore150.blogspot.com/

As Alan says, we will be having BR 2MT 78019 on loan over the August Bank Holiday to provide our motive power for the re-opening of Kirkby Stephen East. Kirkby Stephen was the locomotive's first shed back in 1954. The former NER snowplough No.18 will also be there - the locomotive and plough starred together to rescue '78018' in the British Transport Film classic 'Snowdrift at Bleathgill' filmed in February 1955.

The official re-opening ceremony will be performed on Saturday August 27th by Mr. Steve Davies OBE, Director of the National Railway Museum.

We will also be having events on August 28th and 29th and a Photo Charter on August 30th. Actually there will also be two other locomotives on site over the weekend - Fletcher '901' class 2-4-0 No. 910 with is now on a rolling five year loan to the Stainmore Railway Company from the National Railway Museum and also 'J21' 0-6-0 65033. So it will be a 'must see' weekend for NER fans and anyone with an interest in the Stainmore Line.

For further information take a look at the sites suggested by Alan - for the programme on http://www.stainmore150.co.uk and for the event diary site http://stainmore150.blogspot.com

When abouts do 910 and 65033 arrive at KSE? Would like to get along, even if not on the weekend itself

I still haven't heard a date from Mike Thompson for booking the low loader yet. We need to get the platform extension finished and the track down in the Tebay side. The platform block work is finished already and the filling has started, and the excavation has finished on the Tebay plaform so it should be in the next few weeks. Depends to some degree on how kind the weather is for finishing the physical work.

Keep checking the daily blog I'm running at http://stainmore150.blogspot.com as I'll put it on there as soon as I know. Also the volunteer website at http://www.kirkbystepheneast.co.uk

Look forward to seeing you at KSE - there is usually a good crowd there on Saturdays and Sundays.

    Cheers

    Iain

65033 has now been moved to the workshop area at Locomotion Shildon ready to be put back together again. This should start to happen in the next few weeks with the work being caried out by the nice chaps from Rail Restoration North East together with the NRM volunteers.

910 is ready to leave as soon as we have finished the platform at KSE.

65033 is due to be reasembled in time for august and will then be on display at KSE until funds become available for its overhaul.
For more information on 65033 please see http://www.lclt.org.uk/index.html
