    were it me owned it and cared for it all these years, I would have installed a few track panels.

    Yes but grass is easier to keep tidy, and cheaper as well...

    ah... that reminds me of this guy's place: many happy memories walking past this since you mention to put some track in... we used to stay in the nearby crossing cottage (the relaid track can't go that far due to a cunningly missing bridge :( ) very atmospheric time capsule of a place. Miss it very much.
