Steam & Deltic Running Day GCR Saturday 28th December 2024

I went on a visit to the GCR on Saturday for the Deltic Running Day, featuring 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier on the Deltic schedule and 73156 doing the steam rostered service

The weather was very poor with early mist and later low grey clouds, making all photos having a very grey sky backdrop
On the 2nd run of the day which i was on the loco was shut down at Quorn, problem later i found out was
The Auxiliary voltage regulator failed causing flat batteries.
After charging the batteries and starting the other engine, everything was ok,
Unfortunately, due to the long distance time wise over 3 hours train travel i had to leave the Deltic run and get the steam loco back to Loughborough
Then walk back to the main line station, not recommended with a pair of gammy knees and no bus service!!!
