I couldn't find a thread for this one, so thought I would start one.

Timings on SD website, but no trace in RTT. Hope this one is still running.

Gen groups seem to suggest it is running, even with the lack of info on RTT (I couldn't get on the website earlier so maybe its down). 47746 has apparently been allocated for the diesel legs and should stay on the rear all day.

Any idea why this is routed via Willesden rather than more directly via Clapham Junction and Putney? Is it just for the sake a picking up at Olympia?

Doesn't via Putney have more than a few restrictions on it ?.

No route via London is complete without the scenic beauty of Willesden. People on the train have paid good money for this and a diesel to boot.

Just ever so slightly worried about why big brother is going to St Cross.

Is it to photo the Black 5? :)

Or to photo the 47 class box.

    ;)

Box on the back? who gives a rats pooper when the kettle on the front puts on a show like this. Clearly no assistance given as the 5 hauled the lot up the bank at Byfleet Junction

Nice picture, Don. I was debating whether or not to ask for time off to see it, but decided against it as the weather forecast I saw didn't look too promising for 2PM. Wish I'd joined you at St Cross after all. It looks like it was a rather narrow squeak wit hthe cloud, but you seem to have a knack of brinigng the sun out when a Black Five (or two) head(s) down the LSWR main line - that's twice in four months!

Filmed from a footbridge near Chertsey.
The sun came out at just the right time for a change.

Diverted via Brookwood on way back from work tonight to see this and was well worth it, very healthy sounding departure (well, I think so anyway... not hugely familiar with Black 5 sound effects but it sounded good!). And the presence of 47746 on the back gave me chance to see and photograph two forms of heritage traction on one station visit, which was a welcome bonus and much appreciated...
