Local radio reporting an accident between a lorry and a 'steam engine' causing major delays.

News sketchy at the moment, not sure if a loco or Traction Engine.

A lorry versus a steam roller, as I understand it.

Surely not on the M27? A27 probably
Just had an update that all on the engine are OK, not sure about the lorry driver yet. Low loader on the way for recovery and the engine will still make the GDSF. Living van is in bits by the side of the road

Definitely A27 at that point, looks from the photo as though it is approaching the junction where the A3(M) joins at Bedhampton from the east. Glad to hear everyone on the engine is ok, hopefully the same for the lorry driver too.

It was indeed on the Westbound A27. The bridge you can see in the background is the junction you come off the westbound A27 at if you want to go north on the A3M. They were using the junction to divert the traffic to bypass the incident which happened around 5ish this morning.

Thank god he had a wooden trailer though, otherwise I'm sure this would have turned out a lot worse - a 6-8mph roller meeting a 50-60mph truck, not good. Hopefully everyone is ok, atleast they had the road reopened very quickly which is usually a good sign. You do have to wonder though what the Tesco driver was doing - how can you not see something so obvious as a slow moving Steam Roller - the smoke, along with the usual huge warning sign & flashing beacons on the back of the trailer normally would stand out a mile off, I know it will have still been dull at that time, but that stretch of road is well lit. Who knows....

I came across a traction engine one evening at the end ob the A338 in Ringwood.

I thought I was heading into a pile up given the amount of smoke so I cant see how anyone hit it...........

Original post amended as comment made in haste.

Just hoping all uninjured. Leave the authorities to take any action necessary regarding cause and blame.

Crew are fine, no doubt the dashboard cam on the Tesco lorry will tell all in time. I've seen a photo of the roller at Drusilla's in Dorset today, will catch up with the engine and team later in the week.

The roller made it to GDSF in steam, I was pegged next to it. Glad that everybody was okay, could have been much worse.
