    Hundreds of guards and drivers at rail operator First Great Western have voted to go on strike.

    Union suspends rail guard strike

    A planned 48-hour strike by rail guards at First Great Western (FGW) has been suspended, the Rail Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) has announced.

    Talks between the company and the union had been going on since last weekend. The strike was planned to start on 20 January

    Second train fare strike planned

    A second fare strike on First Great Western Trains (FGW) has been called by commuters demanding more punctual less crowded trains.
