Another 60163 tour from the Midlands next year. Tornado's first run up the Lickey? It was replaced by 71000 on another tour a few years ago that was due that way.

I'll be joining at Worcester on the outbound and probably staying on until Birmingham for the return. Don't want to miss The Lickey!

 

Expect a banker to be attached at Bromsgrove if load above 8.

 

The tour info says that they expect a 66 to be added for the Lickeys.

 

Tornado did do the Lickey with the Royal Train in 2012 but that was overnight and for security reasons no-one knew about it!

 

Looks like the posh seats are all sold but still some standard ones available. Lets hope the weather improves.

With AWS fault apparently sorted - A1 Steam website -
AWS issue resolved

Following the recent issues with the AWS system on Tornado we are pleased to be able to report that the issue has been resolved. As an intermittent fault it was not easy to diagnose, nor had such a fault occurred previously on Tornado or any other locomotive fitted with the same system. We are grateful to Sharpe Engineering Solutions, Locomotive Maintenance Services and Thales for their help in diagnosing the problem.

A minor modification to the electro-pneumatic system has now resolved the issue.

Should mean the trip this weekend does not have the problems the last Tornado tour had.

With the unfortunate recent events in Salisbury maybe not the destination that was expected by most when they booked.

 

Could of been a murder mystery special, but pointless now !

What is the load of the train tomorrow??? Can’t wait for the spectacle of the lickey tomorrow evening..

 

Will it sit in Salisbury or go somewhere to be turned??

 

Looking at RTT it gets turned on the Laverstock triangle as most steam tours that terminate at Salisbury do, and then hangs around various parts of the station until departure.

 

Hopefully it won't be like the damp squid which was the Duke, when that wen't up with the aid off a 66.

 

You might be disappointed then as Tornado is supposed to be having a diesel banker for the Lickey.
