The annual Compo Club photocharter at the Pontypool & Blaenavon railway featured two LNWR built locomotives from classes with strong connections with the area, Coal Tank no. 1054 and Super D no. 49395. Indeed, no. 1054, in its BR guise with Super D no. 49121, co-hauled the final Heads of the Valleys passenger working from Abergavenny to Merthyr on 5th January 1958.

The one event I'd been looking forward to since the loan request came in for 49395 and I couldn't make it in the end, so thank you for posting these fabulous pics - almost as good as being there!
