Just had an email from RTC offering special rates on this trip..
Looks like pretty good reductions as well.

A very Special Christmas offer for you on a very special Christmas train.

We are emailing you today with news of a special offer for our Sussex Belle tour on 22nd December 2009.

We are offering you places on this tour for the following very special rates - on a first come first served basis:

Standard class seats now £29 each, instead of £60.
First class seats now £49 each, instead of £90.
Premier class seats now £99 each, instead of £139.

Full details of the tour are available to view at http://www.railwaytouring.co.uk/index.php/the-sussex-belle---221209-and-240210.html

Note I have no connection with RTC and don't really know why I have been sent this offer, but if anyone wants to travel it is to good to miss.

did it quote a promotional code because the website still quotes the full price unless you have one?

They have probably sent to everyone on their mailing list. I have also received the email.

The email also said "To book your seats on this tour please contact the office on 01553 661500".

Thanks to Mark for pointing out, that you can book online. I have just booked.

I just hope Tangmere is repaired on time - see Chichester thread, since gauging could limit the possible replacements.

60019 on all 34067's tours until further notice??? or 70013 coming out as replacement??

I remember 35027 had a crack in firebox in mid 1990's (no not like now) and that took about 3 weeks or so in the workshops to fix.

Poor Tangers, its like loosing the Mid hants Standard 5 all over again.

This tour goes via Kent - A4's have been previously barred due to height IIRC.

60019 could do the two Steam Dreams trips next week, subject to gauging and support crew being available.

70013 - unlikely for one trip( if 60019 covers the others).

Isn't 70013 still on the GCR?

Non to pleased entirely Cambrian55. Seeing as I booked it online for the full £60 I must be on their mailing list, so begs the question have they sent it to everyone bar those already booked? Will have to give them a bell on monday as still have received no info on the soton docker's postponement this coming sunday.

60163 Maybe? She'll still be in London after the runs on the 21st. Allegedly the crack on 35027 was big enough to see daylight through and probably one of the last nails in the coffin for Port Line (If we're talking about the same crack on the Swanage it would have been around 2002/3)

Letter received today confirming "The Southampton Docker"trip being cancelled - no alternative dates available.

Options - refund or Transfer to " The Sussex Belle ".

The Letter also advised the special discounted rates for " The Sussex Belle".

I have emailed them asking to be transfered to another trip, with a higher fare, which might not cost me any more( They have done this in the past).

I had the e-mail as well, having been to Lincoln with them last weekend I presume.

The offer looks excellent until you check the timings. Taking nearly four hours to travel from Hastings to Victoria seems a long and slow run to me, or am I missing something?

Many thanks for your help Paul. I will try and get in transferred to the ‘Lincolnshire Coast Express’ with 70013 in March. If they won’t offer the discount it’ll have go on the ‘Kentish Belle’ with 34067.

I rang them up to confirm the timings.

Yes 3 and half to Hastings and nearly 4 back with a 20 min stop at Hastings and no getting off the train anywhere else.

I think you can have too much of a good thing.

Could but doubt it. Correct me if i'm wrong but I don't think 60163 has hauled a RTC train yet.

I would have thought West Coast because it was to be Tangmere.

Could 60007 be rpelacing 34067 on its trips? because it is going L/E to Southall on Monday.

Lets say 34067 is cooled by Monday, then it virtually has a boiler washout before welding repairs can take place, this gives us Wednesday before repairs can start. So we are probably looking at next Friday at least before it is ready again.

Based on the indicated route, the return should be 2 - 2.5 hours.

The 3.5 hours to Hastings is comparable with a Kingfisher trip I did with Tangmere in 2006.
