At last weekend's gala, it was very noticeable that the trains were rather shorter than usual and that the GW set was looking a bit tatty.

Does the SVR, I wonder, have a few problems currently with its passenger rolling stock?

    Regards

No the SVR doesn't have a problem. The trains were shorter due to various reasons 1. Set M was spilt into a 6 coach set and a 2 coach local. Set C ran as a full 8 coach set during the day and then split into two rakes of four overnight/early mornings The Gwr Set when running as a local was formed of 3 coaches each so it made sense that when it was combined that it ran as a 6 coach rake (given the tight turn around times it wasn't really possible to add two more on the rake when running as the full rake (as for condition there is one tatty one but the rest are ok) .
Set L & Set N both ran as 7 coach sets.

There are currently 4 coaches out of service. This is due to wheel flats and will be dealt with when funds allow. One each from the LMS and LNER sets (L & N) which is why they are both running as 7 coach sets. One from Set C which has been replaced with the maroon FO in the rake for the time being and finally 3103 - the Venturer's FO - This has been replaced in service by 7511 (that lovely LMS FO). So Apart from two rakes being one coach down all the rest have direct replacments in service. Hope that explains it.
