I'm pleased to see that one of preservation's forgotten vehicles, the Swedish railcar which was on the Nene Valley Railway in the late 80s, has returned to Wansford after many years on a farm in County Durham: New home for vintage railway car - Community - Hartlepool Mail

Was it built in Sweden? I think they used to work on the Inlandsbanan from Mora and Ostersund to Gallivare until being replaced by Fiat railcars about 1980.

If anyone is interested, there's a new web page for her that will be regularly updated during her restoration at The International Railway Preservation Society.

The railbus is to all intents and purposes mechanically complete and operational with only work on the interior (including replacing some removed seats) and then substantial, but not too challenging (touch wood!), work on the exterior to do, as well as a repaint.

The provisional plan is to have the unit operational in late spring, with the rest of the year used to iron out any bugs, train crew and potentially used at special events so the railbus can be fully operational and available for use on regular NVR services from 2013.

She really is the most un-British vehicle you'll find and certainly a novelty to work on. For example, the engine is in one of the cabs, and all passengers enter through the cabs as well!
