My first post, I know there was a thread in 2010 about this loco but is there any new information about the loco as to where it went or if there is any pictures of it? Its basically vanished I like Swedish locos and I think there is only four in the UK and I'm curious as to its current state.

The NVR is home to two Swedish locos, the Class B 4-6-0 no.101, Swedish Class S 2-6-2T no.1178. Down at Peterborough Railword there is Danish E Class 4-6-2 no.996, a Danish built example of the former Swedish Class F. S1 no.1928 is a 2-6-4T that was based at the NVR but on the death of its owner, his family removed it and his Swedish railcar to the (IIRC) Mueum of East Anglian Life. An odd choice of home for Swedish railway artefacts. The railcar has since returned to Wansford but the S1 has moved on. Last I heard was the new owner had the intention of restoring it at running it on the KESR but that was a few years ago and I've heard nothing since.

1928 was stored at the Spa Valley for some years, and as Spamcan says the then-owner planned to restore it for use on the KESR. It has since changed hands again, and is now a static exhibit in a private garden somewhere in Kent.

I would have thought that the Swedish national railway museum at Gävle might be the best home for such an iconic loco? One wonders why it was allowed to be bought out of Sweden in the first place...?

If you google map the Morris minor club of Kent I think it is (stick with me on this!) there is a farm type place next to it and if you look closely you can see the shape of a certain swedish steam loco

There are two others of the same class in Sweden, but neither is at Gävle.

It would have been scrapped other wise, easy as that. Sweden was scrapping their stored steam engine reserve into the 80's

Disgraceful - it seems old cars are a bigger hobby over here than railways....

That's it! The boiler was painted blue when it was at the NVR so I guess it hasn't been repainted
