A scorching day for it. Sadly Stanley was out and the timetable seemed to be out of synch for a long time (a little communication on this would have been nice though especially since it was since the first trains) but it was a nice day out. Especially since I haven't been since COVID time so it was nice walking around Marley Hill yard.

Indeed it was an enjoyable event. They'd issues with Horden due to dud tubes [in a similar fashion to Tornado], which in turn meant they'd had to retube her early having only had a couple of years use after her first restoration/overhaul. They managed to finish the retubing by the Sunday and steam her for a late start Sunday [18/06/23] afternoon. Looking at Caledonia's boiler when it comes to the size of the coal used it could well be a case of one lump or two.....? This was also the first operational Gala for Stanley, which was newly restored and fresh from the works. DSCF0011.JPG DSCF0003.JPG
