    Hi Andrew

Sorry yes. Star guest for the Tyneside Locomotive Festival will be centenarian Barclay 0-4-0ST Colin McAndrew. For those who aren't already aware she spent a quarter of those 100 years based at Tharsis Sulphur in Hebburn, hence the Tyneside link.

We'll also have some of our own Tyneside linked locos in traffic including the 1933 Armstrong Whitworth diesel electric plus some relevant displays in Marley Hill carriage shed. I'll get back to you with train times, formations etc within the next 24 hours.

We're working on our new station at East Tanfield at the moment too (been there lending a hand with the shuttering for the first pour of concrete today) so there's lots going on at Tanfield at the moment.

Twizell will be out on passenger stock all day as will Sir Cecil A. Cochrane with the Armstrong Whitworth diesel electric due to do a run too. 49 will be on the freight to Sunniside alternating with the Armstrong.

Colin McAndrew is down to double head with Cochrane and do one solo passenger run late on with a couple of carriages, she is also down to do one freight.

Does that mean the freights are not going to East Tanfield on this occasion?

As far as I'm aware the freight is Marley Hill - Sunniside only at this event, unless anything has changed since I wrote the timetable!

All locos face the same way; boiler first to Sunnside, bunker first to East Tanfield.

Yep, it didn't disappoint, usual Tanfield welcome, lots to see and atmosphere in buckets. Nice to see the interpretive labels on all the out of use locos, an excellent touch - the extra bits being the displays in the carriage shed, and the big shed open for visitors to walk around. Go tomorrow if you have chance, Colin McAndrew is a gem!

Today at Tanfield was great fun; with Twizell, Cochrane, 49, AW No 2 & Colin McAndrew all in service.

Although the 1745 ex E Tanfield departed 14 late and arrived into Andrews House 50 late.

Colin McAndrew with 2 coaches on; had to stop at Causey and then again twice up from Bogbins for a blow up before it was "game over" just before the home signal approaching Andrews House next to the main road.

We couldn't get enought steam up to release the vacuum (I think?) and finally Armstrong Whitworth Diesel No 2 had to rescue us and drag us the last few yards into the station, arriving 1849 rather than 1759............

Great for pics & riding today; if you can make tomorrow it is highly recommmended.

Freights ran "top and tail" this afternoon (I think 13:36 was cancelled due to late running) with AW No 2 (front) and NCB 49 (rear), not sure if this is the plan tomorrow?

Also AW No 2 did not do its booked passenger trip at 1540 with CM staying on instead.

I guess the Colin McAndrew won't be allowed out "solo" on the 17:05 round trip tomorrow?

Thanks to all involved at the railway - great afternoon.

    Best Regards

I went for a walk yesterday afternoon with the dog while the missus was at a band rehearsal in Stanley, set off at the same time as the train from East Tanfield and made it at the same time as her to Andrews House. Perhaps we should have done a Titfield Thunderbolt and got out and pushed ;).
