Aurecon is to act as a technical advisor to Auckland’s planned $2.86 billion underground rail link.

The 3.5-kilometre City Rail Link will fill a ‘missing link’ on the Auckland’s rail network, connecting the east and west of the city by creating a new direct link from Britomart Station to Eden Terrace.

Aurecon, alongside Mott Macdonald and architects Grimshaw & Jasmax, will provide project management and support services for the civils work, station architecture, E&M, signalling and communications, electrification, safety systems and risk management.

Alastair MacRitchie, Aurecon’s New Zealand business development manager for transport, said: “This is a major project that will be the catalyst for transformational change to revolutionise Auckland’s rail system, changing the way in which people engage with the city, as well as supporting urban regeneration.”
