Seen heading south on the Bedfordshire part of the M1 late this afternoon on the back of an Alleley's truck was a 6 wheel tender painted black. No sign of an engine, though. Can anyone tell me where it was going?

Probably 45231's, engine and tender going to Ilford for tyre turning. Then they are going to the W.S.R.
