Left Poole on time with 11 on and made a gorgeous sound climbing Parkstone Bank.

So that's flattening Corfe Castle and demolishing Parkstone Bank to his name in that part of Dorset now then...!

Seen climbing into the Wylye Valley this morning and climbing Upton Scudamore saluting the gallery this evening. Sounded great, but would have sounded better with an extra cylinder![attachment=1:2egx06mk]IMG_1610_1024x682.jpg[/attachment:2egx06mk]

About 10 down through Ashurst tonight, hammering along very nicely through the forest. A refreshing change in the south to hear a loco that sounds like it really means business!

Lovely photos and videos. Looks like 70013 is in fine form :smt001

I didn't know that WCRC had a chocolate and cream liveried Mk 1 rake - is that a new development?

    Regards,

    Dan

I can't possibly comment, but the empty stock started and will finish at DB Schenker Depot at Eastleigh. :-# The odd part is DB(S) allegedly haven't maintained the vacuum brake equipment on their stock or locos for some years and 70013 is VB only.

70013 looked and sounded superb. Have the valve setting been altered? The exhaust sounded much more even and sharper than last September.

    Cheers, Neil

Riviera owned set, so whilst leased to DBS at times they do not own it, and apparently Riviera keep the vac gear certified and maintained

Very prudent as im sure there will be occasions WCRC has a higher than usual demand for dual/vac braked vehicles and would brings Riveira some extra revenue.

You can easily tell whats a DB rake, it's multi coloured ;).

Theyve had a lot out this weekend...

Footex mixed bag, Tornado's mixed bag, and a set of Choc/Cream for 70013... All this while a WCR set was on the Royal Scot and Birmingham based set on the Cumbrian Coast.

Well done Michael and Philip. Both sequences were very good.

Does anyone know the speed of the train at the summit? It was certainly impressive.
I wonder if the weather will be so perpect for next Saturday's repeat run :-k .

It was also good to see Oliver Cromwell and Tornado sat with their trains at the west end of Bristol TM at lunchtime. Tornado certainly looked impressive against the old Voyagers and class 66s passing through!! <BJ>

Speed was a bit more than 25 by my estimation. We were speed-restricted through Westbury, so couldn't get a decent run at the bank.

Thinking about the repeat run this Saturday (6th June) - can anyone confirm whether or not Ollie is working the return trip in the evening? I've been hearing conflicting stories and I'm really not sure whether my sources know the score or are just repeating pessimistic speculation (wouldn't be the first time, nor the last!)

It's encouraging that RTC can fill a Poole-Bristol tour twice over, though it's a shame that Ollie's not doing the Welsh Marches trip for Past Time. (I've heard allegations of paperwork mislaid, possibly by WCRC, as the cause of that little cock-up. Again, don't know how true that is...)

Perhaps the run to Bristol on Saturday is full or at least nearly full. If a prospective passenger was looking at the RYTC website they would find that little information is given that such a train even exists. If they looked very carefully a basic message is given as a newsflash but otherwise the train is not even listed in the UK tours list. Strangely, the run to Dartmouth on 13th June is still listed. Time for an update here I think. <BJ>

It is booked to run back to Poole in the evening. The train runs to the same timings as last week except a 5 min difference departing and returning to Poole ( now 08:25 and 21:31 ).

Roger Smith kindly supplied the timings. <BJ>
