Can't see an existing thread for this upcoming tour: https://www.railwaytouring.net/uk-day-trips/the-bath-bristol-christmas-express
Looks like 46233 Duchess of Sutherland has been pencilled in for this trip from Swanage to Bath and Bristol TM and return - as far as Salisbury.
No doubt a diesel will be on the rear all day, until Salisbury, where it takes over haulage on the final leg to Swanage allowing 46233 and support coach to return direct to Southall.

Incoming ECS on Wednesday 4th: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U10546/2019-12-04/detailed Looks like 46233 Duchess of Sutherland (subject to availability) hauls the train to Southampton Up Goods Loop, via Andover and Romsey, with a WCRC diesel on the rear which then hauls the consist to Swanage. 46233 taking water during the 15 minute stop at Winchfield I presume.
Outward to Bath & Bristol on 5th: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U10547/2019-12-05/detailed (Water at Salisbury presumably)
Return to Swanage on 5th: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U10551/2019-12-05/detailed Diesel haulage takes over from Southampton to Swanage as it's already on the rear. Much easier than RCT's webpage which mentions a change at Salisbury.
46233 and support coach from Southampton Central to Southall WCRC: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U10552/2019-12-05/detailed
Outgoing ECS on 5th from Swanage to Southall WCRC: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U10553/2019-12-05/detailed

Was it not a bit short sighted to send 45407 back to the lancs? Or is it required there anyway

I believe that 45407 went home because it is due routine maintenance.

Sad to hear of the cancellation of the Duchess to Bristol. The engine has been such a good performer in the west country this year. <BJ>
