We will be staying put for the 2nd one before moving on for 46233 returning. Beattock, poor pensioners can't afford the fuel to go that far..

46233 badly delayed on the return by a broken down freight south of Carlisle, passed us in the Lune valley at about 16.35. Because of this delay she then had to stop at Oxenholme for water, this was the last report I had at 16.55.

I was at southwaite for the southbound run, and 46233 and the castle missed passing each other by 2 minutes.

I really thought that the green on the Duchess showed up much more vividly in the mountains today. The sun must have done it's trick.

The sun certainly did it's trick as most of us went home with varying degrees of sunburn.....

Just to update the situation yesterday it was lucky there was another charter in Carlisle and one of the 47s was sent to remove the log train of the main line.we were ready for a on time departure but then had to wait for the backlog of service trains to be cleared this meant we left 62 minutes late .
We were then looped near Shap summit while more trains past us and then due to a problem with the points on the exit of the loop we had to reverse out onto the main line all costing us more time .We were then looped at Oxenholm for water and from there we had a non stop run to just outside Crewe while we waited to get in the station 1 hour 35 late .

Even on a Saturday afternoon the west coast mainline is a very busy place and I think west coast and network rail did a excellent job .

Keith, do you know where the log train was taken to get it out of the way?
