Can't see a separate thread for this trip..
Is Nunney likely to be available? If not what could substitute for this trip?

5029 is also listed for the Cathedrals Express to Plymouth on this date (60163 + 5029/34046 and the later will not make the WSR Gala - see Gala thread so will not be available) to double head with Tornado.

It has bee suggested in another thread by someone possibly connected with 5029, that there is no definite date the intermediate overhaul will be completed.

34067 is the most likely substitute. 70013 and 70000 will be at the North Norfolk Gala. 60019 might be required for the Cathedrals Express to double head with Tornado over the Devon Banks.

In Down Main in the latest Steam Railway it states Nunney will not be ready for this trip, but will have trial run sometime in March.

    Thanks Paul.
I also wonder whether the routing through Reading will have an impact on this tour?

Sounds like Clan Line might need to be in this picture.
Will Tangmere be ready in a month? Same for Bittern becuase she normally doesn't emerge from winter maintenance until Late March, Early April.

The restrictions on pathing through Reading do not come into effect until Easter, so this train is not affected; the timings have already been produced and sent to RTC. The rostered loco is 34067.

Looking at going out for this tomorrow, has anyone been to Norton Jcn recently ?, looks alright in others pics, but looks like the vegetation round the signalbox has grown a bit the last 18 months or so.

If it gets into trouble, I guess the diesel will give it a push. I am sure though there will be no problems because there is no rain forecast so Tangmere on a dry rail should make Sapperton okay. But then that's what we said about Filton last year. Fingers, legs, arms and everything else crossed.

I will be at Reading to see both trains on their way west.

Nigel spoke to John Bunch today who said that there would NOT be a diesel on the back.
obviously, things can change but as far as ND is concerned 34067 is on her own.
We will see........Nigel is train manager and generally prefers to run without a diesel where possible. Limitations and last min ops issues(at Worcester for instance) may need a change of plan but this was not expected at 22.00

Good news, let's hope all goes to plan. Looking forward to hearing the Bulleid whistle and "chatter" echoing around the valley at Blockley/Chipping Campden!

Can't do any worse that 6024 did back on the 90s. Expecting mega thrash up to the tunnel but for whatever reason she almost stalled and the 47 on the back shoved us along.

I've just had a call to say Tangmere was on time at Sonning, and there was no DL on the back.
