The Dartmouth Express with 70013 on Saturday 13th June 2009

Just wondering if this one is still running this weekend as there seems to be no time up on UK steam info yet.
    http://www.uksteam.info/tours/trs09.htm#twk
It's still listed on The Railway Touring Co. web sit & was also advertised in the local Reading paper last week with prices & times !
One place it is not listed is here http://www.5305la.org.uk/events.aspx which seems to list all of 70013 tours.
I was thinking about going for a couple of nights in Devon to see if it makes Goodrington Bank but now I'm not so sure !

    Received my tickets yesterday.

Steam now only from Bristol to Kingswear and return. Pathing difficulties at Westbury is given as the reason.

Westbury passengers must now join at BTM. Newbury passengers must join at Reading and also return from Reading.

They are still advertising steam from Westbury.

I wonder when they knew about these changes and if they got customers by misleading them as I would not have booked on this tour if I had known of the changes.

It's not such a drastic change. Westbury to Cogload Jct is not exactly renowned for it's world class scenery or impressive inclines [-( . The return leg via Bristol was in the schedule from the outset. <BJ>

The Friends of the NRM are expecting the tour to go ahead, and they'll have a new DVD to sell on the train (assuming it gets delivered to their Chairman on time [-o< ). Steam Age Pictures Volume 27 "NRM Mainline Steam In The South" features 850 Lord Nelson, 777 Sir Lamiel and 70013 Oliver Cromwell. Running time is 88 minutes and the price is just £10. Actually, the "in the south" bit is not quite right, since it includes shots on the S&C, the GER, the ECML and in South Wales.

Does anyone know if this train is sold out or would it be worth trying for a pay on the train. I can't get train times off UKSteam info as it appears to be down so could someone confirm if its a 6.45 or later start out of Paddington. Only looking for one ticket if that helps.

Thanks Robin, much appreciated. I had managed to get the train times as UK Steam came back up and then Nat Pres went down!!

Early alarm I think then as I have been behind 70013 nor down to Devon on steam and not for over 20 years in any form. I did get a OK picture of 70013 at Gospel Oak a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks again, off to charge batteries for the camera.

Some shots from Temple Meads, before I was enveloped in steam and smoke from OC.

Shame they banked it with the Rat but OC was doing most of the work up Goodrington bank as it passed me.

Can't blame them given previous experience with Pacifics, plus sending whatever's on their service train to assist would throw the P&D timetable into chaos.
