Just got back from Surbiton Station. The Dorset Coast Express roared through a few minutes early topped and tailed by two class 37s. Is there a problem with Sir Lamiel or was it diesel hauled because of fire risk?

Sir L was fine at Weymouth and left with support coach Ok to Yeovil Junction circa 15:30. Bittern's non appearance was the reason for the diesel haulage back to London.

Simplified, the original intention was 60019 to the coast and then to act as Bincombe banker; 30777 to come light from Yeovil and take it out on the head end. Uk Steam Tours yesterday updated to showing a late swap of haulage to 30777 on down run with no steam banker out of Weymouth and the diesels for the up run. Reason for 60019 no show unknown as MHR web-site announced it left for Southall last Wednesday. Should be a repeat two x steam trip next Wednesday if all goes to plan - will await events with interest.

60019 was failed at Southall with an exhaust injector problem (not ejector as stated elsewhere). I understand that, all being well, it should be available for the outward leg of the 28 July Dorset Coast Express, with 30777 working the return.
