Looking forward to this one. Good 2 mile climb just south of Halesworth. Rare for steam in East Anglia up East Suffolk Line and a blast back through Diss. Does anyone know whether Norwich to Lowestoft is tender first?

I think its diesel haulage from Norwich to Lowestoft with ollie on the back, then lose the diesel \:D/
Tickets came yesterday, Is this tour a sellout? last time I looked there were 4 seats left.

Should be good out of Beccles as we have Beccles Bank (1/87), I have a picture of Cromwell leaving Beccles on the Easterling in the 50s near grove road LC.
If anyone is interested there is an exhibition now of at Beccles museum about the line and the people who worked onit. The picture of 70013 if you want to view and the gradient profile of the line, PM me.

    Anyone else on coach G?

Does anyone know where Cromwell is serviced after arriving at Liverpool Street. My guess is reversed back to Stratford and serviced in a siding there somewhere. Info would be great. Thanks.

Can anyone please confirm the single line section on the East Suffolk Line. Think it is Lowestoft to Halesworth but not sure.Weather forecast for the weekend looks dodgy.

The East Suffolk line is single between Lowestoft and Halesworth and also between Darsham and Woodbridge according to my railway atlas. Colin.

Thanks for that Colin. Although not the Cumbria Fells or the South Devon Banks this part of East Anglia in Suffolk has some short sharp gradients. Like dace83 says "Beccles Bank" is an example of this. Would be great if dace83 could organise a same location shot of OC leaving Beccles as of 50 years ago. Looking forward to seeing the times for this to plan the day.
I also cannot recall a steam trip covering the East Suffolk Line in a northerly direction. Is this the case and if so maybe one day this could happen, unless for operational reasons which I can't think of?

If you havent visited Lowestoft for a while or Beccles then prepare to be disapointed, Lowestoft lost its roof in 92 and the outside is now in poor state, Beccles is overgrown and boarded up. (lost its engine shed in 2006 aswell) However the rest of the line is very nice and you should see the best parts of Suffolk.
I would of loved to done a before and after shot of Ollie but I would much rather travel on the train, plus lots of Norfolk enthusiasts are probably onboard as we don't get that many.

Anyone know of any good banks south of Beccles? I've lost my gradient map! I'm guessing 10.15 at Woodbridge, any update would be handy. If in doubt, I will film Oli up the bank to Wickham Market staion which is about a mile run. Got good footage of Tangmere there. Hoping for snow to imporve the ambience!

Wickham Market is good but I can recommend 1/75 just south of Halesworth. Although a short 1.5 mile, tours before have stopped at Halesworth so from a standing start and a short downhill section locos working hard.In fact both Tangmere and the B1 have slipped (briefly) at the top just under the bridge to Brook Hall. Damp conditions forecast over the weekend could make it interesting.
Thanks dace83 for the gradient profile and map. Just shows that East Anglia is not all flat!

I think its about 38' from Lowestoft to Woodbridge and timed at 0922 away from Lowestoft,I've no idea what the line speed is but I think I'd be at Woodbridge before 1000 to be on the safe side. Colin.
